The National Federation of Immigrants in Sweden
The National Federation of Immigrants (Immigranternas Riksförbund, IRF) was founded in 1973. Both private persons and immigrant associations of different nationalities can be members.
IRF is built on the solidarity among the different immigration groups.
IRF is non-political and on-religious.
The purposes of IRF are:
- to protect the interests of immigrants and minority groups in Sweden.
to work for the mutual cultural and social interests of the members.
to work for the co-operation between the member associations
themselves and between the associations and the swedish society.
to cover and participate in the cultural, social and political development in Sweden.
to closely cover the questions concerning immigrants, both members and others.
to give the member associations support, primarely those who represent small minority groups.
IRF is especially active in questions concerning:
- the schooling of immigrants children.
immigrant youths and their posibilities to get work and education.
swedish for adult immigrants.
refugees rights to sanctuary in Sweden.
